Port Monmouth Road Curriculum Integration Project

In June 2007, the Port Monmouth Road School in Keansburg, NJ successfully applied to the Bristol-Myers Squibb-Rider University Grant Program for Enhancement of Science Teaching. The grant will be used to enhance the Port Monmouth Road School’s Grade 1 and 2 science curriculum through the addition of hands-on, marine science investigations based on Keansburg’s own bay front environment. To implement their plan, the Port Monmouth Road School chose to partner with the Education Program at the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC).

During the course of school year 2007-8, NJMSC will conduct two professional development workshops and provide in-school support. Training's will include explorations of Keansburg’s Raritan Bay shoreline.

A number of lesson plans and student activities are being developed in conjunction with this project. At the current time they are accessible only to workshop participants who need a password to access them.
