Program begins at NJMSCs Building #22 where you will
meet your NJMSC instructor. Your group will depart from Building
#22 after a brief orientation. The rest of the program will
be conducted at field locations. Therefore, it is critical
for you to arrive on time.
-
You are responsible for your own transportation throughout
the day. We will be conducting activities at different sites
within Sandy Hook.
-
Each program runs approximately two hours.
-
-
A Gift Shop is available on the premises. All gift shop proceeds
support NJMSC education programs. The Gift Shop will be open
before and after all programs.
-
Participants are not allowed to participate in the
program without their shoes on. Old sneakers are best - no
open-toe shoes.
-
Participants are not allowed in the water unless they
are taking their turn at seining (we supply boots).
-
Participants should bring collection bags for shells if participating
in Marsh and Ocean Study, Salt Marsh Study, or On Sandy Shores.
-
Participants will be outdoors for the majority of the time
and should dress appropriately.
-
For participants who have access to a cell phone, it is advisable
to bring one. Please let NJMSC guides know if a cell phone
will be available. In case of emergency, they can direct you
to the best number to call.
-
To better accommodate all participants, please notify NJMSC
if there are any participants with physical disabilities. Sand
wheelchairs are available upon advance request.
-
The availability of food and beverages on Sandy Hook is extremely
limited. It is advisable to bring your own.
