Fish (FAMILIES INVESTIGATE SCIENCE HANDS-ON) is NJMSC’s marine science field trip program for family groups. FISH offers the opportunity to learn about New Jersey’s beaches and bays while spending quality time together.
Through “hands-on” activities led by experienced NJMSC Instructors, you’ll explore the habitats of Sandy Hook, discover the many facets of our coastline, and learn what you can do to protect our bays and beaches for generations to come.

6:30 p.m. --- Happiness is a Horseshoe Crab - Evening Edition!
On this twilight walk of discovery, learn all about
horseshoe crabs and their special connection to the tides
and the moon. |

Friday, July 11 1:30 p.m. --- Salt Marsh Investigation
Hike along a marsh trail, use a seine net, and sieve
through sand to discover what's unique about this vital
habitat. Families will work with an NJMSC instructor to
discover native plants, fish, snails and more. |
Friday, July 25 1:30 p.m. --- On Sandy Shores
Families will discover that beaches are more than just summer playgrounds on this guided beach walk. Microscopes and other tools will be provided to conduct a "beach lab" that includes close-up investigations of local seashells and sand from all around the world. |
