COAST DAY NJ PHOTO CONTEST

NJ Marine Sciences Consortium/NJ Sea Grant (NJMSC/NJSG) and NJ Department of Transportation, Office of Maritime Resources are pleased to announce their annual COAST DAY NJ photography contest. COAST DAY NJ celebrates the wonders of our state's marine and coastal environment. The event promotes awareness, understanding and appreciation of NJ's coastal environment and all it contributes to our quality of life. Below are the details for our COAST DAY NJ photo contest. Deadline for entries is October 6, 2010. For contest or event questions call Rosemary Higgins, COAST DAY NJ Coordinator at 732-872-1300, x 19.
THEME: This year's theme is commercial fishing and the seafood industry. Your entry can reflect any aspect of the theme but must have been taken in New Jersey. Winning photos will be published in The Jersey Shoreline E-Magazine and on NJMSC/NJSG's website at www.njmsc.org.

DETAILS: In addition to addressing our theme, only entries meeting the following specifications will be considered for final judging:
  1. Up to 8" x 10" print only. Color or black and white accepted.
  2. Entry must be mounted on posterboard or mat board only with a 1" border all around. No frames or glass, Photographer's name and address must be securely attached to the back of the entry. Please include email address, a daytime phone number and a statement that you are 18 years old or more.
  3. A panel of judges will select finalist. Finalists will be displayed at COAST DAY NJ on October 10, 2010 at the Lobster House Restaurant and Dock, Cape May, NJ where attendees vote for their favorite photo.
  4. Winners will be notified by email or telephone.
ELIGIBILITY: This contest is open to adults, age 18 and above.

Discover NJ's fascinating marine and coastal environment though exhibits, research demonstrations, tours and kid's activities. Enjoy live music and free eco - tours! Meet a marine scentist or commercial fisher and learn about their work! See commercial fishing boats, go on a fisherman's wharf tour, pull a seine nte, visit a touch tank filled with NJ's native marine creatures and much more ... all at COAST DAY NJ! FREE ADMISSION, FREE PARKING.

NOTE: NJMSC/NJSG retains publication rights for all photographs submitted. Payment for use of photos will not be made beyond contest prizes. Photos become the property of NJMSC/NJSG, returned only if pre-paid, self-addressed mailers are provided by entrant. In addition to publication in THE JERSEY SHORELINE E-MAGAZINE, photos may be used in future COAST DAY NJ materials including advertising and promotional media. Photo credit will be included.
