NJ Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC), NJ Sea Grant and the NJ Department of Transportation, Office of Maritime Resources are pleased to announce the Call for Entries for their annual Coast Day NJ photo contest. Finalist entries will be displayed at on October 12, 2008 at Coast Day NJ, a statewide celebration of NJ′s marine and coastal environment. Below are the contest details. Theme:

COAST DAY NJ celebrates the wonders of our state’s marine and coastal environment. The event promotes awareness, understanding and appreciation of NJ’s coastal environment and all it contributes to our quality of life. This year’s theme is fishing (finfish and shellfish). Your entry can reflect any aspect of that theme. Examples include depictions of recreational or commercial fishing or examples of our maritime heritage related to fishing. Your location must be in or on NJ’s coastal waterways. In addition to cash prizes, winning photos will be published in NJMSC’s The Jersey Shoreline and on NJMSC’s website at www.njmsc.org.

Only entries meeting the following specifications will be considered for judging:

Submit one print only no larger than 8"x 10". Color or black and white is acceptable.
Each entry must be mounted on poster or mat board with a 1" border all around. No wood, metal frames or glass accepted.
Photographer′s name and address must be written directly or securely attached to the back of each mounted photo. Please include email address and a daytime phone number.
A panel of judges will select finalists. Finalists will be displayed at COAST DAY NJ where attendees vote for their favorite photo. Winners will be notified by email or telephone.

Eligibility:

The contest is open to adults, age 18 and above.

Awards:

Finalist entries will be displayed during Coast Day NJ 2008 at Cape May on October 12th. Voting will take place and prizes will be awarded.

Grand Prize	$500.00 Cash
Second Prize	$250.00 Cash

NOTE: NJMSC retains publication rights for all photographs submitted. Payment for use of photos will not be made beyond contest prizes. Photos become the property of NJMSC, returned only if pre-paid, self-addressed mailers are provided by the entrant. In addition to publication in THE JERSEY SHORELINE, photos may be used in future Coast Day NJ materials including advertising and promotional media. Photo credit (your name) will be given.
