Welcome to AHOD Field Trips

WELCOME ABOARD!

Our AHOD field trip puts students aboard commuter ferries for an interactive, fully guided tour of the NY/NJ Harbor. During their program students will:
  • See first-hand why the NY/NJ Harbor is a world class port
  • Discover how the ports commercial activities enrich everyone's lives, including their own
  • Become aware of the beauty and abundance of wildlife in the Harbor and learn how to protect it
  • Meet scientists, engineers and other maritime experts to learn how their work keeps the Port vital
  • Discover the many diverse and rewarding career opportunities available in and around the shores of NY/NJ Harbor
DETAILS:
Trips are scheduled weekdays after the morning commute. AHOD is available for school groups only, grades 4-9. Programs may be scheduled in spring, summer, or fall, and each program runs approximately 2 hours. Schools are responsible for transportation to and from the ferry site.

Funding from NJDOT/OMR and others allows NJMSC to offer a limited amount of AHOD programs for just $8.00 per passenger (30 minimum, 50 maximum). Pre and post-trip classroom materials are complimentary and sent upon request.
