Directions
From Garden State Parkway Heading South:
Use Exit 117. Take Route 36 East. Follow signs to the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreational Area, approximately (12) miles.
From Garden State Parkway Heading North:
Use Exit 105. Take Route 36 East, approximately (6) miles. At the intersection of Ocean Boulevard, turn left (north). Continue on Ocean Boulevard for approximately eight (8) miles. Once at Sandy Hook, follow directions below.
Once in the Park:
Once at Sandy Hook, follow the main road north for approximately four (4) miles to historic Fort Hancock. At the Nike Missile Monument (Guardian Park), go right, approximately 0.5 mile. NJMSC is in Building 22, on the west side of Magruder Road. There is a sign on the road. Please park only in areas designated by the Park Service.
Memorial Day through Labor Day:
The National Park Service operates a toll plaza at the entrance to Sandy Hook, collecting tolls between Memorial Day and Labor Day. NJMSC visitors do not need to pay a toll. Inform the toll taker that you are attending an NJMSC activity. During the Summer, please plan extra time (up to 30 minutes) to pass through the toll plaza.
